Welcome, Investigator.

The files are open, the evidence is still coming in, and the dog has declined to comment.

Fortunately, the suspects are terrible at hiding their motives.

• PROTECTIVE SERVICE RECORD: Historically distinguished in protective, patrol or guarding work requiring intensity, physical capability, vigilance, strong handler partnership and seriousness under pressure. These traits did not necessarily retire when the dog did.

• CASE STATUS: Some breeds will have a stamp showing if a current case is PENDING, CLEARED OR CLOSED. If so, you can find more details by visiting the PUBLIC NOTICE BOARD

The dog has been under investigation for quite some time. Pieces of information are everywhere. You can find their stats, lifespan, grooming requirements, and a general assurance from breed enthusiasts and dog owners that training is recommended. But it doesn't always answer the questions that matter most.

"What is this dog really like to live with?" And perhaps most importantly:
"Is this a dog whose nature fits the life you're actually going to give them?"

We declassify years of recovered research on the domestic dog.

WHY

We want to help you understand dogs well enough to appreciate them for what they are,
choose more wisely when you're looking for one,
recognize what you're seeing when you're already living with one,
…and avoid asking a dog to spend a lifetime being something they were never particularly suited to be.

They have spent thousands of years learning us. We're returning the favor.

You’ve been cleared to proceed, Investigator.
There is no required order to the files. Begin wherever the evidence takes you.

Start with the Purebred Index, then proceed to the letter corresponding with the breed you’re investigating. Or take another route entirely: begin with M.O.T.U.S. to uncover the motivational forces operating beneath the surface, or explore the Heritage Trails to trace the work, environments, and history that helped shape the dog in front of you.

Throughout the archive, you’ll find breed lists linking you directly to subjects connected with each investigation. One dog can lead to another remarkably quickly. This appears to be a known condition.

If your breed of interest is nowhere to be found, don’t assume we lost the file. Check the PUBLIC NOTICE BOARD for breeds currently in D.O.G. Status, pending breed cases, withheld findings, and other matters still moving through the system.

The archive is active. New findings, breed dossiers, case updates, and recovered research will be released regularly as they clear review.

Thank you for your patience while the investigation continues.

There is considerably more to the dog than first suspected.

The dossiers have the following sections:
File ID: Breed Name, Identifying photos, lifespan and physical attributes
Most Likely Award: One earned by each breed based on extensive research
Classification Records: Minimum Handler Recommendations, M.O., Heritage TRAILs, any breed stamps, open cases
Ancestral Trace: CIRCA and origin
R.A.P. Sheet: Common Breed Behavior Quirks
System Health: Top five common potential health issues inherent in the breed
Domestic Profile: This section rates each breed from 1-5 on the home front (Space Needs, Housekeeping, Separation Anxiety, Noise Level, Territorial Behavior)
Public Performance Report: Reported interactions with Strangers, Kids, Other Dogs, Squirrels, Tabletop Desserts
Handler Caffeine Index: DDCA's original Coffee Cup Scale ratings, and Trainer Input from Dog Declassified's T.I.P. Dept.
Lifestyle Findings: Daily life with this breed

PLEASE NOTE: These findings describe typical breed tendencies. Individual subjects may vary according to training, socialization, experience, breeding—and their own personal agenda.
